NOTE
The guy's seven and a half feet tall, and built like a tank. (He actually used to be nine feet tall, but I changed it after some thought, and a few RP's. If you'd rather him be his original size, let me know.)

Kai's variable fighter, created and named after his fallen comrades. Boasts high-speed thrust and forward firepower when in fighter mode.

Kai
There existed a program, in which young children with particularly tough genes and bodies, are taken and turned into living weapons of war. This was done through incredibly intensive training and physical augmentations. This program, called the "Gungnir Project" was undoubtedly a huge success. However, the missuse of these 'super soldiers' went largely unchecked, and that is where this particular young man's story comes into play.
Kai was only four when he was taken from his parents. But, they had no idea. Since the young boy was replaced with a clone, who would grow up to be disabled, or partially so. As such, they were none the wiser while their son was put through life-or-death situations for the rest of his life. Kai himself doesn't remember much of his parents either. All he's retained was the memory of warm embraces and care
Quite the opposite of what his life turned into.
Once he was off-world and on a harsh planet with a facility for training Gungnir soldiers, his new life began. The training lasted all day, and injuries weren't uncommon. They were taken care of, of course, they were never abused. But it definitely wasn't a family type of seting. Not yet.
During the training, it became apparent that Kai and a few others, were in a league of their own. He outperformed everyone else by far, though Kai was unmatched in raw physical strength. Their abilities, and many others, were drastically increased after the augmentations. However, a side effect to these augmentations is also an increase in growth. No supersoldier is shorter than six feet. Some are even up to nine feet tall.
This, of course, did not go unnoticed by the people responsible for training these children. They grouped these 'elites' into their own squad when it was time for squads to be made, and were named "Paladin Squad". In total, there was four of them.
Years pass. Paladin Squad was often in high demand because of how quickly and efficiently they could complete tasks. They were known as the best of the best, the group who would never fail their mission. This was only possible because as time had passed, Kai and his squad had bonded, becoming family. Their bonds were unbreakable, and they all knew exactly how each other fought. Their synergy is incredible.
However. Gungnir soldiers were not invincible. They were armed with the best armor and weapons available, even ships for both travel and combat. But they were still human. They could die, just like any others, even though they were altered and trained.
Despite this, they were often just viewed as assets by the higher ups, who knew little to nothing about them, other than their battlefield effectiveness. So there came a time when squads were split up so that each soldier could each take their own missions. This was so the government, the Galactic Federation, could spread it's reach farther, and get more done. Win more battles.
But things didn't work that way. These soldiers, while still highly effective alone, showed their true colors only when working with a tightly-knit group. Their numbers dwindled. And eventually, Kai recieved word that all of his ex-squadmates had been killed in their missions.
This set something off in Kai, and he took it upon himself to live, for their sakes. Even when he was assigned missions clearly meant to kill him, he would always somehow struggle through and emerge victorious. As the last Gungnir soldier, he wouldn't allow himself to die. He would make sure that the next generation didn't have to lose what family they had, like he did.
However, he was quickly fed up with The Federation's antics. And one day it was in the news that the officials who had ordered the splitting of the squads had been killed. Same for those who had assigned suicide missions to Kai, and others before him. After that, the young soldier seemingly vanished.
His wherebouts are unknown to this day. But he isn't done. He still fights to protect the people, as he'd been taught to since he was just barely able to walk.
